Design Week, Salone del Mobile, Fuori Salone, Milan Design Film Festival, Design and Innovation Up: Milan is now recognized as the undisputed European capital of Design at an international level.
Being the protagonist of every initiative and an always-on-the-move city, Milan promotes Italian design all over the world by attracting and influencing designers of every generation.
It is like a designer’s pencil which marks, traces and erases the line of a chair, a lamp, an armchair, or a simply imagined object.
In this deep network of events, it has always been hard to find a space to stop time for a moment and let Italian design masters’ memory and teachings emerge. This is why the Museum of Italian Design was founded and inaugurated on April 8, only one day before the opening of the Design Week.
Like a garden of ideas, the Museum of Italian Design is a space to walk in to let yourself get carried away and inspired. The museum, in addition to preserve and safeguard the historical memory of Italian design, shows around 1500 of the most iconic and representative pieces of design. Through recorded voices of Italian masters talking about their work and the origin of their inspiration, the visitor is accompanied all along the way.
